The reindeer is the animal symbol of Lapland, and on this 2015 Finnish 5 euro coin it represents the country’s northernmost historical province in the Animals of the Provinces series. In the Krause catalogue the coin is listed as KM# 224.
The reindeer was drawn by Erkki Vainio; the other side shows the historic arms of Lapland by Nora Tapper, with the date, the denomination 5 EURO and the letter T. The nine bimetallic coins of 2014 and 2015 move through Finland’s historical provinces one after another, and the reindeer coin is one of the five issues of 2015.
Mintage: 35,000 uncirculated and 10,000 proof. The coin fills the Lapland slot in the series and sits naturally in a deer or Arctic wildlife collection.
Uncirculated condition: the coin never circulated, keeps its mint lustre, and the branching antlers show no rub.
